Marasmus
Marasmus is the name given to the severe weakening of the baby or child's body. If not treated, it can result in death.
Causes and Specifics of Marasmus;
Severe severe chronic diseases can be over-weighted in all cases, galactomycete does not absorb lactose from mother milk or artificial milk. But the most common reason is starvation.
In many countries nutritional deficiencies are present and children who are consistently malnourished will eventually lose weight between one fourth and one third of their body weight, eventually becoming Marasmus, growing up and developing.
The face is weak, the color is gray and the eyes collapse. The skin is bright, stretched on the skull and hip, wrinkled and saggy beneath the arms. Ribs are prominent and outward. Constipation is; Stools are filthy and body temperature is low. Growth stopped moving house. Over time, jaundice also occurs.
Dangers and Treatment;
Vigorous Marasmus is given intravenous fluid and vitamins to avoid overloading the damaged liver, followed by oral feeding and then slowly. When the child regains his appetite and has the energy to play, the danger is reduced.
The basic danger is death. If too much food is given to a Marasmus child during treatment, the patient may die after the overloading of the heavily damaged liver.
Malnutrition reduces the body's resistance to infections, and for that reason one or more infections such as malaria, intestines are encountered in children with marasmus.
The low level of protein slows the body to repair damaged tissues, injuries and broken bones do not heal, the child may suffer disability and deformity. Liver damage and mental retardation may remain in healing.
The solution is to prevent Marasmus from eating all the proteins that the body needs. Babies and children have a higher need for protein than adults.
